Create/Edit a Label

The Create/Edit Label screen allows you to create a new Label or edit a previously created Label.

The Edit Label screen has four sections. The Label Editor, Options and Items are presented in tabs below the Label Details. By default, the Editor tab will be visible. Clicking on one of the other tabs will make that section visible, but will not cause the page to reload; therefore, it is not necessary to save your work before switching tabs.

Details

The Label details section is made up of six fields and is positioned underneath the main toolbar. The fields include: Title, Alias, Created On, Modified On, Views and Items.

Title: The Title field is where the name of the Label goes. For example, entering "Joomla!" in the title field will create a Label named Joomla!

Alias: The Alias field is a URL-safe version of the title that is used when SEF URLs have been enabled in the Joomla! Global Configuration. For example, if you create a Label named "Joomla!", you could make the Alias field "joomla". If the alias field is left blank, it will automatically be populated when the Label is saved. If the alias field contains unsafe characters, they will be removed when the Label is saved.

Created On: The Created On field will display the date and time the Label was created. It is not editable.

Modified On: The Modified On field will display the last date and time the Label was modified. It is not editable.

Views: The Views field will display the number of times the Label has been viewed by site users. It is not editable.

Items: The Items field will display the number of content items that the Label has been applied to. It is not editable.

Editor

Body

The Label body is a text field that can be used to describe the Label. The body field supports HTML and will load the user's preferred text editor.

Visibility

The visibility fields allow you to set up who can view the Label.

Published State: The Published State field allows you to select a state for the Label. Four states are possible: Published, Unpublished, Archived and Trashed.

Access Level: The Access Level field allows you to select which user groups can view the Label. As with most Joomla! extensions, it provides three Access Levels: Public, Registered and Special.

Ordering: The Ordering field allows you to select a definite position for a Label in relation to the rest of the Labels in the system. This is useful when you want Labels to be arranged in a specific order.

Metadata

The Metadata fields allow you to determine metadata for your labels, which is then used by Search Engines.

Keywords: The Keywords field allows you to configure the keywords that will be displayed in the HTML metadata for the Label. If left empty, the keywords entered in the Joomla! Global Configuration options will be used.

Description: The Description field allows you to configure the description that will be displayed in the HTML metadata for the Label. If left empty, the description entered in the Joomla! Global Configuration options will be used.

The Image Media fields allow you to select up to four images that the system can use. The Label Media field in the Options group then allows you to configure which image to display on the site when viewing the Label.

Items

The Items section will list the Content Items that the Label has been applied to. To speed up navigation and searching, the Items screen offers two filtering options: search and content type. The search option will return a list of items with titles that match the entered phrase. Filtering by type will return only results of the specified content type.
