Changing label and message text

All fixed text in the Comment component, the modules and plugins are controlled by language files.  These files can be altered to suit the terminology on your site.  Please note though, custom changes to these files will be overwritten when you upgrade the Comments extension.

The following files control the text in the Comments extension:

• /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_comments.ini
• /language/en-GB/en-GB.mod_comments_comment.ini
• /language/en-GB/en-GB.mod_comments_highest_rated.ini
• /language/en-GB/en-GB.mod_comments_latest.ini
• /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_comments_most_commented.ini
• /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_comments_rating.ini
• /language/en-GB/en-GB.com_comments_sharing.ini

These files are in a simple INI format.

As an example, to modify the text "Personal Web site/Blog URL", open the language file for mod_comments_comment (the Comments list and submission module).

Find the following line:

COMMENTS_WEBSITE=Personal Web site/Blog URL

Change the part after the equals sign to the desired text as shown:

COMMENTS_WEBSITE=Show off your web site!
