Page Templates with Magazine and the Editors
Written by Andrew Eddie
Have you ever wished that you could just save a few bits of HTML that you use all the time, or even save some boiler-plate text that you use every time you do your job advertisements ... well, Toowoomba Regional Council had just that problem. We looked at this problem and found that we could empower three of our extensions to provide a solution.
The new FCK Editor, on which our WYSIWYG Editor is based, has a really cool new feature that allows you to insert code "templates" into the text. It wasn't hard to extend Magazine, with the assistance of our XHTML Editor (based on Codepress), to provide a way to edit and save templates that FCK could read.
I'm always forgetting how to set up the anchors and images to make Lightbox work (I've used Lightbox in this article to do the screen shots), so one of the first things I did was save that code snippet as a Page Template. That code is now only two-clicks away whenever I need it.
Page Templates is available now in Magazine 2.1.2.
