Powerful Joomla! Extensions by JXtended We know that you’re excited to get started but it is extremely important that you read the release information, installation notes, and requirements before you try to install Finder 2.0 RC1. You’ll thank us later.

Installation Notes

Unlike most JXtended extensions, Finder 2.0 cannot be installed over an older version. You must uninstall any old versions of Finder on your site before installing the new package. Read more about how to install Finder.

Requirements

Finder 2.0 is the first JXtended extension to use the new JXtended Libraries 2.0. The Libraries will come bundled with the Finder package so there is no need to download any extra packages unless you need support for non-standard extensions.

Finder 2.0 also requires:

  • PHP 5.2 or higher.
  • MySQL 4.1 or higher.
  • Expanded indexing support for files will require safe mode to be off and the popen() function to be callable for PHP.
  • Non-Latin based languages require UTF-8 properties support for PCRE.

We also have a small PHP script to check your Web server for compatibility with Finder 2.0. Just download the package, extract the PHP file and upload it to your Joomla 1.5 site. It needs to be placed in the same directory as your configuration.php file and then called via your favorite Web browser by navigating to the URL of your Joomla site followed by “requirements.php”. For example, “http://jxtended.com/requirements.php”.

Subscribe to Finder now to experience the future of search for Joomla.

    Hi Rob,
    Nice to see the RC1 version and added K2 extensions.
    Can the Finder 2 RC1 be installed over Finder 2 Beta 3?

    Best regards
    Mark

    Mark,

    Yes, you can install Finder 2.0.0 RC1 over Finder 2.0.0 Beta 1, 2, or 3 but not Finder 1.1.x.

    Still doesn't work. We expected the beta problems will be fixed. :'(

    This time there's no error message explanation, just freezing with this when starting to index the content:

    An Error Has Occurred
    The following message was returned by the server:

    (that's it...no error explanation and not 1 indexed content)

    1.1 version works great...but we'd really could use the new features... :-!

    @Ehrmann-ne,

    Please open a support ticket for that issue. It is common for third-party plugins to break the indexer because they were not built correctly.

    I will possibly start a project where I will need to be able to search across 2-6 websites. Any chance of getting this done? :-)

    @Svein,

    JXtended Finder does not support multi-site search.

    Will Finder 2.0 have the ability to index numbers like Finder 1.1.0 did?

    Hi.. Nice work.. :-)
    Wondering, if i can use Finder with K2 to build real estate or Autos websites that required Search criteria options. if option from drop-down one selected, options in drop-down two updated accordingly.
    For K2 categories/subcategories/extra-fields..O<img src=" />

    Couple of questions.

    1-Does Finder support search byb date ranges?

    2-Will you develop a plugin for FlexiContent in the future? K2 is so 2008 :)
