Inside the new JXtended Website

The changes to our new website go far beyond the asthetic, right to the core of what JXtended is all about. We've made some significant changes to the site's structure, the shopping cart, the support system, and the downloads system, to name a few. We've put together this blog post to help explain some of the important changes in order to help our users get comfortable with the new site as quickly as possible.

Documentation

The documentation for our Joomla extensions has been reorganized to make information easier to find. Each extension now has it's own section with a comprehensive table of contents which lists all the documentation for that extension. Take a look at the Catalog Documentation for an example. Additionally, you can now search all documentation or the documentation for a specific extension by typing your search query into one of the search forms in the right sidebar of the support section of the site.

Support

The new website does not have any support forums. The old support forums have been locked for some time in favor of our new e-mail based support system. As always, our one-on-one support services are only available to customers with active subscriptions. If your subscription has expired, you will still have access to all documentation but you will not have access to downloads or one-on-one support.

Products

You may have noticed that we've been shrinking our product line over the last few months. We hope that by having fewer products to maintain and support, we will be able to focus more energy on our key products and services while freeing up some time to spend more time to work on Joomla! core development. We've always maintained an active roll in core development and we look forward to taking our involvement even further. Read about JXtended's technology contribution to Joomla 1.6

Downloads

Our old website required users to register and log in to access any downloads, the new site does not. All free Joomla extensions can be downloaded without registering or logging in. However, to download any commercial extensions, you must be logged in. Head on over to the downloads page.

Accounts

As explained in the downloads section, free extensions no longer require registration to download. Taking that a step forward, all old accounts that were created to access free extensions have been removed from the system. Going forward, only customers who have purchased one of our commercial extensions will have log in accounts. If you do not have an account already, one will be created for you during the checkout process.

Subscriptions

The new site makes buying and renewing subscriptions easy and if you had any credits in your account on the old site, you can easily renew your subscriptions using JXtended credits or your credit card. We now accept payments directly through the site, no more going through Paypal. Don't worry though, we will never save any of your credit card information! And, with the switch to the new site, we've given all of our customers with recently expired subscriptions an extension to the end of August 2009.
